I am a committed, passionate and enthusiastic teacher and school leader with over 16 years experience of working in a large, multi-cultural, inner-city primary school. I have a broad range of teaching experiences having worked in all year groups from Nursery to Year 6 and have extensive experience of working in a range of leadership roles including: PE Leader; Year Group Leader; Educational Visits Co-ordinator; Pastoral Lead; and my current role of Deputy Head Teacher, SENCO, English Leader, Designated Teacher for Looked After Children, Designated Safeguarding Lead and Early Career Teacher (ECT) Induction Tutor. As an experienced leader, I am responsible for leading, coaching, mentoring, monitoring and the day-to-day management of curriculum leaders, year group leaders, class teachers, ECTs, teaching assistants, lunchtime supervisors and play care co-ordinators. In addition, I lead and co-ordinate volunteers and work experience students’ programmes, liaising directly with teachers, lecturers and mentors for these members of staff. Finally, as a senior leader, I am involved in the more strategic elements of staffing including recruitment, deployment of staff and performance management.
I am passionate about ensuring all pupils and staff are nurtured and are provided with appropriate and challenging opportunities to develop and grow. Using my own experience and educational research I have helped shape the current and future quality of fellow teachers through planning and delivery of high-quality teacher training sessions for student teachers, ECTs, teachers, teaching assistants, play care co-ordinators, lunchtime supervisors and the school’s administration team. I have shared ways in which my vision, passion and practise in supporting children with SEND have improved educational outcomes for children I work with at two international conferences, speaking to an audience of over 200 professionals on both occasions.
I have an excellent academic record having graduated with a 1st class honours degree from the University of Birmingham and subsequently completed my PGCE at the University of Birmingham. I later successfully completed the National Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator qualification at the University of Birmingham in which I achieved a Distinction.
